Our Story

How it all began

When the pandemic emerged in March of 2020, we thought it was a divine opportunity to shift our life plans and head out East with our little family to a place we were longing to live after travelling here for the past decade to visit our east coast family. Sarah and Ian have been married for 11 years and have two adorable kiddos, Hailey-Jane who is 7 years old and Harvey James who is 5 years old.

We brought our children here for visits before the pandemic surfaced and shared with them that one day this place of adventure, tranquility and kindness would be our forever home! We shared with our children that Nova Scotia was an inclusive place that our souls felt connected to on a deeper level.

We officially planted roots in October 2020 when we purchased our lovely home in the beautiful Port Williams.

Meet Sarah

Sarah signifies the 'Feather' of this exciting, new venture together with my husband. She brings a natural desire to learn more about healing our bodies, consciousness, keeping our daily vibrations feeling high through meditation and an intuitive personal passion to play the crystal singing bowls for others. A magical sound that releases the most unique vibrations.

Sarah has a deep desire for authentic connections and look forward to having special sound bowl and meditation nights with homemade herbal teas in our studio along with future Holistic Culinary Retreats which will all be centred around self-care with like-minded people!

With her innate passion for intentional touch, helping others feel calm, relaxed and rejuvenated and thrilled to offer Registered Massage Therapy in our newly renovated home studio uniquely equipped with a copper tub!

She's recent graduate from one of the best schools in Atlantic Canada, Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy, which allowed me the opportunity to be mentored by some of the greatest therapists in the province and participate in a variety of speciality massage student clinics focused on arthritis, invisible illnesses, neurological conditions, treatment focused and spa centred clinics.

In addition, the unique training and focus on hydrotherapy she received has certainly added to my blooming repertoire dedicated to healing the human body.

Feathers for Sarah represent her connection to the higher realms, her spiritual side flourishing, becoming free and flowing, the feeling of becoming more awake and aware.

Simple things for her have become finding more joy in the moment, becoming more present as a human and sharing all these beautiful moments with new friends.

Meet Ian

Ian represents the 'Herb' side of this new venture, as a passionate and experienced Chef. Ian has always loved building relationships with local farmers and producers. Using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients for him is a lifestyle. Pairing his passion for crafting meals prepared from fresh ingredients and the addition of soul nurturing herbs into his cuisine guarantees for a one of a kind experience. He has always been drawn to these aromatic edible plants in his culinary profession that add delectable flavour and colour which have both culinary and medicinal benefits.

Many herbs bear healing properties, they were something he naturally wanted to explore deeper and learn to infuse them into his everyday conscious cooking creating immune-building, nourishing meals for his clients through the changing seasons.

Having completed two years in a Holistic Herbal Wellness course offered in Halifax at Bloom Institute, this course offered him the building blocks on the layers of how herbs may improve both his food creations, but also our overall health and well-being. When combined together with intention, the receiving benefit is beyond mouthwatering and is truly a memorable food experience.

Having over 25 years of culinary experience - 20 years as a Head Chef and previous owner of two very busy restaurants in Ontario with a successful catering entity, Ian has always yearned to get his hands dirty in the soil, learn to grow without the use of spray, harvest his own herbs, and really embrace and enhance his respect around the ideology of farm-to-fork to share with his future clients.

Since his arrival in Nova Scotia, Ian have been enjoying building relationships with local farmers and producers. This has inspired him to get busy growing from seed (sourced through Nova Scotia) his own food and medicinal herbs in their 23 gardens on their property in preparation for our family consumption, and food offered for Herb & Feather catering. With his devotion for clean, comfort foods, a well balanced life-style, local farmed foods, and ethical growing practices, Ian looks forward to sharing with others his passion for culinary cooking.
